How I create infinite ideas!

Hello Everyone!

As some of you may have seen from my Instagram account, I have a unique ability to look at an image and create a world/story from it within a short period of time. I thought I'd write a quick blog post about this to hopefully help some of you who might be facing writers block.

Firstly I use an app called WOMBO Dream, although I'm sure there are some other AI artist apps out there.

After opening the app you will be greeted with a page that looks similar to this one. At this point, you will need to have an idea of what story you want to write and a prompt to go with that; whether that be a genre, theme or even a character that you've created such as; an explorer, robot, cake decorator or teacher. There are countless prompts out there and they will all lead to a unique piece of art at the end.

Once you have decided on a prompt you can then chose a specific style that you want the piece of artwork to be created in. For this example I have chosen the prompt of Soldier and the Moon Walker style.

This is the image that was created for my settings and at first you may struggle to see anything useful or inspiring in the image, but that is fine as you can regenerate you artwork multiple times and all of them will vary in some way.

When I look at this image from a directors point of view, it helps me to define a visual style that I'd want to use, but there is also different emotions that can be evoked from this abstract image. For example, in the top right of the image I can imagine that being the Soldier's Visor, and since it is pointing slightly downwards I'd assume they were looking at a dead friend by their side or possibly thinking about the past behind them as they know they are about to enter a battle that they may not return from. This image helps to start many thought processes such as; costume design, script writing and even sound. I'm not very skilled at sound, since I'm specialised in directing, however, I can imagine what sound scape might be present with this image.

I hope this quick tutorial has helped some of you to escape any mental block you may have had, and if you manage to create any interesting stories then I'd love to see and hear them via my Instagram or email. :)
