After watching The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, I was puzzled as to why I found it enjoyable whilst watching, however, was constantly having negative after thoughts.

Firstly, what is this? Zoe Kravitz's character demonstrates extreme skill in this film which must've taken years to perfect - shame she didn't have time to upgrade her mask. As a filmmaker, I appreciate that there was a decision made here, perhaps it was so that Batman could pull it off her face easily to reveal her identity. Ultimately, this mask doesn't even look like it matches the rest of her costume.
Secondly, I understand that in order to tackle Batman's character again, you must change certain aspects of his persona, to make him fresh and enjoyable. However, Reeves has gone too far down the path of depressed, isolated son of murdered parents. There is practically no daylight in this film, which definitely adds to the pathetic fallacy of Robert Pattinson's character, but for an audience having to squint to make out details in the dark areas of frame, surely an extra light or two wouldn't affect the story that much.
Finally, the Riddler or the Penguin? Going into this film, I had no previous experience of seeing the Riddler or the Penguin on screen. The Riddler remained this faceless villain until the final act of the film, which affected my reception of the storyline. The inability to put a name to a face meant that the audience had nothing to grasp onto for the first half of the film, and were left floating in mystery rather than guided along a path. The Penguin was much more enjoyable to watch as a 'villain' because we got to witness the character and see his interactions with The Batman throughout.
